It’s an open standard. Tesla is not needed for it to succeed.

The article is about them delaying other manufacturers from accessing their network so it’s not as open as they want you to believe.

It doesn’t matter what they want you to believe, the connector is not dependent on their network.

              It’s in the first paragraph

delays due to the unexpected layoffs within Tesla’s Supercharging team

Those are delays for Tesla Superchargers, not delays in choosing a national standard. That’s already done. We haven’t fucked up anything. NACS is just a connector

                  So yeah, we fucked up

My first message was that we should have chosen a standard and nationalized the infrastructure, the industry chose a standard, the infrastructure is private and now things are fucked because of the company that invented the standard.

That particular infrastructure is private. EV infrastructure is not private. There’s nothing stopping any other private or public entity from expanding that infrastructure using the common open standard that has been adopted. Nothing of value has been sacrificed. Progress has merely been delayed.

Yes they do, actually. And many more are planned. It’s a very recent change.

Nowhere in the article or the other article does it explicitly say it’s because of Tesla. It does say that Polestar and GM have made the announcements of the delays.

delays due to the unexpected layoffs within Tesla’s Supercharging team

          First freaking paragraph
