It’s “because”.
They phrased their request in three different ways [to cut in line]:
“May I use the Xerox machine?” “May I use the Xerox machine because I have to make copies?” “May I use the Xerox machine because I’m in a rush?”
Both requests using “because” made the people already making copies more than 50% more likely to comply, researchers found.
Who tf calls it a Xerox anymore?
The same guy who needs to abbreviate “the fuck” doesn’t understand why people call “photocopy” (r syllable) “xerox” (4 syllable) ?
I mean, if it’s literally made by Xerox then that’s how I’d refer to it.
Because Xerox had market dominance back in the 70s, it used to be the default term for photocopying. But now photocopying is the default term https://youtu.be/PZbqAMEwtOE
Who says photocopying? Copier or copy machine is what everyone I’ve known says.
Well, when you give people the reason of your requests they get to make the value judgment of your needs over theirs and most of the time theirs are just fine being delayed a bit.
The word is “blackmail”.
I like the word “we”.
