They look great, nice color too! Around here the more vivid oranges tend to be with resin, where rosin is usually more muted and/or lighter.

I’m grateful for how fast the rosin scene has progressed around here. And I hear you, I’ve had my fair share of lighter rosins. Sometimes that seems to indicate more muted flavor, but not always!

Yeah definitely. I appreciate the different colors, but it’s not a great way to gauge quality.

The rosin game has been pretty neat to watch evolve. We’ve got a pretty wide variety of rosin producers, so it’s coming in all colors & textures too. Some of the fresh press is almost like shatter, cold cured can be really thick batter, some of it is really oily… and the colors run the gamut from babyshit green to virgin snow to electric orange…

I’ll take the uhhhh… Baby Poop OG cold cure.

What’s your preferred rosin consistency/form? As much as I love the freshness and flavor of fresh press, I find that shatter-y consistency to be 1) hard to maintain in storage, 2) hard to handle when trying to scoop a dab. Personally I prefer the cold cured batter/badder or sauce.

Agree 100%. I honestly think the fresh press would be more manageable if it were packaged in parchment paper like shatter frequently is. But expensive fresh press invariably comes in glass containers around here, and that just ends up being a pain and a half. Batters are where it’s at.

Maybe you can help me out. I think I always burn my rosin. The bottom of my banger always ends up black and then the taste goes way down and it doesn’t hit as hard.

Do you know what the best temperature I should set it to is?

What exactly are you using to dab? Sounds like your banger is probably too hot. Rosin often needs lower temperatures compared to other concentrates like resin.

My understanding is that ideal temp range changes depending on your piece and the concentrate used, anywhere from 350-500 F. Don’t go above 600 F.

Here’s a few suggestions to experiment with:

      • Heat the nail or banger until it’s glowing slightly red, then let it cool down for around 60 seconds before taking your dab.
      • Try a cold start dab. Put the rosin in the banger first, then heat it up until it starts to bubble slightly. Inhale, reheat as necessary
      • Consider a thermometer of sorts, like a Dabrite

Oh that’s a dope e-nail. Maybe try around 400-450 F. From what I understand, there should be no permanent or burnt in residue after a dab. The leftover residue should be easily wipeable.

As they say, sometimes you gotta waste it to taste it.

Also, quartz glass can get worn over time and lose its ability to retain heat. May be time for a new one.
