There is technically already high-speed rail service between NYC and Boston—the Acela Express. In fact, this is the only high-speed train in America.
I would love for this map to come to fruition as I live right by one of the stations they have proposed upgrading to a higher speed line. However, I am not holding my breath. Building a whole new HSR line is extraordinarily expensive and time consuming, just look at CA’s ongoing project to get a taste. The density of development in the Northeast means it would probably be even more troublesome (even if it makes it more needed). If they can’t build the North-South link, then they aren’t going to build this any time soon.
can it be nyc to boston to toronto and then let new england become a new canadian province (except new hampshire) instead? asking for a terrified trans girl. T_T
North/South connector is infinitely more important. I still can’t believe they didn’t make it happen during the “Big Dig”.
Steam power? In 2024??
Maybe it steampunk themed
Connecticut officials are upset that some CT cities are being bypassed, but the whole reason for the bypass is the low speed limits on CDOT owned MetroNorth tracks.

Good thing trains are air conditioned-OH wait, my last commuter rail train’s electrics were out…
Who would ever want to go to Boston though?
