The same reason as I’d care if someone said the earth is flat. I’d try to compare it to my knowledge gained in school, and be confused.
School often tells a simplified version of the truth.
Treat it like a name. You don’t need to learn all of them but when someone shares theirs with you, learn it and what it means or it’ll be very rude towards them. To put it into context, it would be like everyone would be called Joe and Mary, which would be very boring.
Confused? Oh no, never that. It must make your pretty little head hurt, having to try to think.

I don’t understand how it’s transphobia. When you’re trans you’re just changing from one gender to the other M->F or F->M, right? How does this conflict with thta notion?
There are non-binary people too. Being bigoted towards them is generally called transphobia, though maybe nb-phobia would be more accurate.
Edit: also this is usually trying to claim that sex = gender so is transphobic from that perspective as well.

Ideally, sure, but that’s not always possible and telling people that they’re not allowed to be trans doesn’t stop them from being trans, it only alienates them.
Luckily this trans bullcrap is only a thing in America. Hopefully it will not spread into my country.
