It felt like the world was making really solid progress in human rights from the 1990s onward. Once the crazies on the right decided to have their voices heard about their absurd conspiracies it’s been slowly eroding hope. I am a massive fan of free speech, but good lord how much can we take before these asshats start destroying the democracies we all hoped would bring the world some peace?

It’s not super surprising since, if you look at history, there tends to be progress, then pushback, progress, then pushback, over and over. Progress was the 90s-2010s, now’s the pushback. We just can’t let the pushback win.

I posted an article just the other day of how Sri Lanka is decriminalizing homosexuality. There are many many bigots in the world that spew hate but there are also a lot of allies that uplift. It’s hard to see some days through the algorithms and doomers but there are a lot of good things happening. We just need to keep working together, we got this 😊

Not surprised in the slightest that all our progress is being taken away. However I feel like trans people are being specifically targeted as the villains and the LGB dont do much to support them unfortunately. As they say a chain is only as strong as the weakest link.

Hell I saw a twitter video of a woman claiming “female erasure” at a pride event being “assaulted” when everyone there just surrounded her and criticized her bullshit. Republicans and religious people flooded the comments with support as if that woman was god herself.

I mean, the LGB community does not have a good track record of supporting the T+ community as far as I know.

This is definitely true. I want to optimistically believe this is changing as cis gay men realize that grooming rhetoric and drag queen/trans legislation affects all queer people equally. We’ll see how much the needle moves.
