Minnesota is showing us what it means to be brave. As someone who grew up there, I can tell you that the reason they are standing firm is the strength of their community. They have learned to care for their neighbors across race, support one another, build relationships and organize community. Like so many of you I am now watching from another state. But we can help.

The first thing you can do is call your senators and tell them to DEFUND ICE. 5calls.org has a script and phone numbers. The senate votes soon, this Friday January 30th. Spread the word.

There is also a nation-wide strike in response to ICE this Friday Jan 30. School, work, shopping: skip it if you can. Invite your friends to do the same.

Reach out to your neighbors. Join a protest. Ask what you can do to help protect your community members.
