Every story in the world has this one basic format:
• Story begins • Story ends
Sounds kinda western centric. Where do genres like slice of life, neverending serials, etc, fall in these categories?
Wild the article never once cites Vladimir Propp. He’s mentioned in the comments but he already proposed and analyzed this (mostly for Russian folklore) in the early 20th century in his structuralist work on narrative.
