The instance has been updated to the latest version of the code. For the next few hours, there might be issues with communication in the fediverse. We are working on it, and everything should return to normal shortly. I’ll keep you updated.

ohhh I like the comment box being at the top
Wow I don’t have to scroll the the bottom of the page to reply anymore
It moved? Guess I can remove that tampermonkey script then lol
Appreciate your work @ernest even if i get angry at times.
I knew something was happening, because of the downtimes. I appreciate all the work and improvements you and the team behind it are doing. I don’t know if this was a thing before, but I like the ability to hide commenter avatar too. And the themes, such a great update.
Fantastic news, Ernest! I’m sure a lot of people will be happy now that that visible domain blocking / posts disappearing fix should be in. :) That was the most visible issue I noticed coming from your kbin.social folks, anyway. Instance level moderation is also a great and welcome addition and I hope you are able to get some volunteers to assist with active moderation, since it’s such a large instance.
It’s also good to see commits and changes happening on the kbin code in general. While I’ve moved my instance over to Mbin, I am still rooting for kbin as well - more hands and more ideas in the “community-focused posting” section of the Fediverse can only lead to further improvements as well as more choices for people looking to spin up their own instances, be it Lemmy, kbin, or Mbin.
Is Mbin new? Do you have a URL for your Mbin instance? Does it have a lot of communities/magazines, and can I follow them through kbin?
Mbin is a very recent fork of kbin so there are very few differences at the moment. My instance does not have a lot of communities as it’s a private instance with very few members, so mostly we follow others’. Mine is https://the.coolest.zone
Nice, so many improvements!
@ernest I (preemptively) did a summary of the benefits which this update has just brought to kbin.social over on matrix a while back. Will you share a version of that or something similar?I’d love to see a changelog, and I’m sure others would love to as well.
I’ll try to work on it over the weekend.
Thank you for all your hard work!

Could you send me a message, as I’m quite behind, to be honest.
I’ve just sent you a DM
I like that we can see the crosspost activity. I preferred the comment box at the bottom though. Keep up the good work. Kbin is way better than digg anyday.
I also prefer the comment box at the bottom ;)
Me too.
One day maybe we can have both options, but for now, this is great.edit: I’m an idiot!Must be weird for you having so many people requesting things all the time. I don’t know how I would feel if an avalanche of people asked me to change my work!
One day maybe we can have both options
Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page, underneath your username.
@cacheson omg thank you!!!
Sure thing. :)
I can already see some of the new features in action!
Thanks @ernest this is wonderful!!

Thank you. From the post at first I thought it was a maintenance patch, it is strange to receive appreciable new features but without even an announcement with a brief summary of the most notable ones.

Yes you can block them. The issue with other content vanishing when domains were blocked by individual users has been fixed by this update.

Whole domain is blocked for me, no issues:

I will check what’s going on.

By the way @ernest, it looks like the API has not been properly set up on kbin.social - probably an issue with the public/private key set up. I got a 500 error attempting to visit /api/entries
Yep, I intentionally did not enable the API. After the update, I want to wait through the weekend, make necessary corrections, gather some metrics. If everything is fine, we will enable the API!
Hurray, hope this will get some developers to make a properly working kbin app soon!
Love it
@ernest FYI the login page (https://kbin.social/login) is giving a 404 error.
