Disney CEO Bob Iger could make over $27 million this year, or 535 times the median pay of his employees.

Cool so that means he has wrote 535 times more material than a striking writer, right?

because a lot of powerful people have convinced tens of millions of dumb poor idiots that they’ll be rich one day (they wont) and if we hold rich people accountable today, then that same accountability will be used against those dumb poor idiots when they become rich (which they wont ever be), so they fight to protect the rich in the blind dumb fantasy that they’ll be there, exploiting other poors one day.

This is so very the answer.

It’s so interesting to see a friend barely making ends meet but thinking they’re a few wins away from being “self-made”.

I don’t think they’re ‘dumb idiots’, but definitely wilfully ignorant, and it’s very sad.

We are the dumb poor idiots. The population in general.

I can’t remember where I heard it from, but there was a good line about all citizens (particularly Americans) believing they are “temporarily embarrassed millionaires”.

Because the police also protects them. Any old fashion violent revolt will be not greeted by population (currently) and the police and government will prevent that with force. the funny thing is, that the police and co. consistently protect the interests of the rich more than the interests of the poor. you’ll barely get discriminated if you’re rich. and it happens often, that rich people in a city are known by the policemen and they know that they shouldn’t fine them - as otherwise they’re out of their job.

Many people actually have forgotten, that unions were created because the workers were starting to kill owners of factories/companies due to the massive exploitation. Unions were only powerful, because the alternative - namely violentl death for the owners by being outnumbered - was actually dangerous and had teeth. but these days, unions have much less teeth - and when strikes don’t work, violence becomes necessary.

Add him to the list of asshat CEO’s who are universally loathed by customers of the company, yet the board lets them keep the job because the users won’t inconvenience themselves enough to force their hands. I’m looking at you, people who kept using Reddit. If we (the average American consumer) had principles and any stomach for protest we could get Huffman and Iger fired in a matter of weeks or months.

Although I know the reasons for the actors’ strike, I think it is unfair for them to demand more when their job is mainly to interpret the creations of others. I think those who have more reason to demand are the intellectual creators of the films, such as musicians, costume designers, concept artists, etc.

The actors are striking with the writers and the iatse is with em too.

The intellectual creators of film are with the actors on this.
