I noticed this instance in the All tab. It has 5 users in total but also has around 35k posts. It has posts specifically about Jesus, Christianity and a little bit of Covid.
In general, I defederate harmful instances (full-bot, CSAM, spam-infected etc.) immediately while keeping the ones people may not like but not that harmful like lemmygrad, hexbear to their own choice.
What I want to ask here is, should we defederate from this instance as whole or leave it to the users? Like are we have any benefit from this instance?
If Lemmy had a feature like default blocklist, I’m sure I would add this one there. The community that bothers me the most is: !selfie_testimonies@lemmy.staphup.nl
I just came across a post from a community hosted there and was debating blocking the instance. i probably will. i don’t see any benefit to the content on that instance, but i also dont want to presume that everyone shares my views.
I’ve removed !selfie_testimonies@lemmy.staphup.nl community, which has 38K posts. The other ones are not that bloated. So you can block individually if you want 👍
This archive links to videos going al the way back to 2006 when youtube started. i use a script to retrieve these video’s. The list is updated hourly.
Jesus. Someone’s very dedicated and probably ill or in a cult, or both. If that’s true, maybe it’s populated by other people from it.
So basically this one is chock full of spam?
Kinda yeah… I would say it has more of bigotry though. Like it has communities like “stories not heard in mainstream media”, “jesus lives: thousands of spiritual video-selfie testimonies” etc.
Normally I consider straight-up defederating, but I want to avoid that option as much as possible. Therefore, it made sense to ask users.
I see what you mean, personally I’m not really touched by it as I pretty much never browse All, but, if it does affect the experience of other users, I’m not against getting rid of them.
Though I don’t find it so aggressive that full defederation would be necessary, unless they are invading other instaces with their stuff as well. It seems they’re running a bot that keeps posting the same theme of video, wonder where they’re pulling them from
