Maybe, but not necessarily in this case. POTUS nominates a person for SCOTUS, which imo should involve interviews or at least discussions with said candidate.

The President nominates a candidate for SCOTUS, so in theory he should probably have interviewed Barrett and Kavanaugh. I’m guessing another crony around him told him who to put forth for the nominations though and he didn’t actually do any work.

I’ve said it before, but I’m buying a flag pole and a flag for just the occasion. After a couple weeks I’ll take it down and probably never use it again. I might even put some of those cheap pinwheels around the base to add some flair.

Not how that works. Assuming 3 MTF trans athletes took the top three spots, they would also place 3 females at birth as the top 3. In this case, the trans girl took second overall, so she shared second. Nobody got displaced, everyone was able to compete. In the way, a trans athlete would share the same position of the closest competition that they bested and behind anyone else they didn’t.

Sounds like this is about the Macklemore situation. I haven’t really seen him be necessarily surprised by what’s transpired, but he’s well within his rights to be critical of the actions taken.
People with platforms can have strong opinions on matters just like everyone else. They have a platform that many of them earned (obviously not all) so it’s theirs to do with it what they want. There’s zero chance that Macklemore didn’t know this was a possibility. He believes in standing up for Palestine and calling out a genocide, so he put his neck on the line to support those beliefs. In this case, he gained a new fan from me today. People that are willing to do that earn some respect from me. On the other hand, someone like Ronnie Radke who also is very outspoken, I’ve removed from my music rotation because I think he’s a shit person. Similar to Kid Rock, but other than a couple of his classic songs I enjoyed as a youth, I didn’t listen to him anyway. In both examples, I’ll smear the shit out of their name to anyone that will listen.
Actions have consequences, and rarely are any of these people truly surprised when they reach the ‘find out’ phase, but they may act like it to try and save face.

The way California handled it at women’s state track this past season I think is a fair balance. There was a MTF gal that took second in some race, and she and another each got credit for second place. At least until a better solution comes up, I don’t see why that would be an issue.
I can see an argument why that’s not fair to a trans individual for singling them out, but in that same vein there’s an argument about how a MTF may have biological advantages over the competition.
If the above can’t be achieved, I think allowing trans in sports is the right call. As someone that was a competitive athlete, I have to admit that I didn’t just jump to this opinion and did have to reason with myself. I was never against it, but still had instinctive doubts.
That’s not to defend Newsome at all, he’s a snake. Even if these are is true beliefs, that he doesn’t want to be on that side and perhaps it’s a moral dilemma he knows is wrong, he can absolutely do better than this.
It’s boring, but if you’re just learning, do a lot of fundamental work to build a good base. Work on making sure your hand position is good, fingers are set right, and string muting on open strings your aren’t playing. The string muting is probably going to be more difficult early on, but it’s good to at least be aware of it.
Practice scales to a metronome. You don’t have to know the notes necessarily, but memorizing the shapes will be beneficial going forward. For me, it made learning new music more intuitive because you start to inherently understand how notes are connected so it’s more organic when playing something new. If you want to start learning the notes, I’d say first get a grasp on the shapes, then when comfortable with that, start saying the notes out loud, even if it’s slow. Eventually it’ll start clicking and you’ll start to recognize other patterns on the fret board like intervals.
When I first learned bass many years ago, I just learned songs and that’s fun. Years later I went back and focused on fundamentals and even just a few weeks of that paid dividends going forward. I found I had to think a lot less because things were just more natural having been ingrained and everything got a lot cleaner once I was doing it properly.
But with all that said, that stuff is boring, so find some tunes and learn them. If you don’t enjoy playing because you’re just running scales, you won’t keep playing, so pepper in some fun stuff.

I should clarify that I wish there was a medical option that want stupid expensive and covered by insurance. Unfortunately, I think that’s just wishful thinking. Really, I hope that better technology focused for different conditions can be developed off of the work of these other smart glasses.

I empathize with your condition, but glasses that record everything and everyone and shares that data with one of the worst companies in the world make it everyone’s problem. I understand how these can be beneficial to you and others in similar situations, but sacrificing everyone else isn’t the right answer.
What I would be okay with is if a medical provider created a similar product that doesn’t record but has the ability to do the positive things that Meta glasses do and have them available only to those that get medical approval. I would even be okay if they recorded to a private, secure and encrypted place that is regulated and the data controlled like HIPPA so it couldn’t be sold or used to train LLMs.
If this is the only solution, then everyone should have to identify they are wearing a recording device. It would single out people with disabilities, it would be everyone that used them.

If it matters to you, someone else pointed out that it’s heavily built by Claude.

I was super happy to see him back after getting the gig at SNL. I was also thrilled to see to really well there in his first season.

If you’re getting free weights, I’d get an adjustable bench as well. If you already have a bike, you can get a bike trainer to ride inside when weather isn’t cooperating. I’d avoid a treadmill since as you mentioned, the outside is accessible, and if you’re not in a climate with snow and ice, a little rain sometimes feels good during a run.
But like others mentioned, dumbbells and a kettlebell will be all you need to do a lot of strength exercises. An adjustable bench allows you to expand on that. You can get dumbbells that use plates, so you dont need a full set, just the bars and plates. In the future you could get other bars for different strength training if you feel the need and you can just use existing plates.
Otherwise as someone else mentioned, you can do a lot with just bodyweight traing too. A good mat will go a long ways for that. You can supplement that with resistance bands that take up minimal space.

There are a ton of skit channels on platforms like YouTube that have filled the void. Most are shorts, but there are channels like Viva La Dirt League that does some longer form sketches. Chris and Jack is another channel that I think does some really funny sketch comedy too. Dropout.tv is imo the best subscription out there. While not really sketch, it’s almost entirely improv, but it can kind of scratch that itch.

Jeremy Culhane was on Dropout before SNL too. They’re a great company that treats employees and customers great.

We vacuum the house almost daily with a little shark hand-held unit, mostly because we have 2-3 dogs at all times. In the weekends the good vacuum comes out for a deeper session. We bought a carpet cleaner and we use that maybe every 6 months or so. Little to no shoes in the house helps a lot.
The big thing is to not let them get too dirty with more frequent cleanings. It’s a lot easier to do that than it is to try and clean a heavily soiled rug or carpet on fewer occasions.
Carpet cleaners can be rented for pretty cheap, but if you use it more frequently, it’s better to just bite the bullet up front since it will pay itself off.

Using it increases the adoption numbers which can lead to more adoption, and therefore funding. It’s indirect, but it still shows support for the author.
To me, DHH being a toolshed isn’t even the worst part of an LLM coded slop “distro” that recently had a significant RCE vulnerability that required the bare minimum to exploit. Every OS / distro also has vulnerabilities pop up, but that’s a known issue with slop code. DHH being a racist cunt is just the cherry on top.

Even with the stripped out version of the definition, that still clearly defines the current Republican regime. It’s a self own if I’ve ever seen one.

Like I said, I try to avoid things when it’s feasible. Cutting electronica out isn’t feasible.
Here are the core principles of fascism. Republicans check all of the boxes. That’s why we call them fascists. It’s not just a knee jerk title to draw shock it’s a fitting title based on their actions. Feel free to try and dispute any of that.
Core Characteristics of Fascism.

And we all know that if the far-right people are excluded, they’ll just make a better Linux community elsewhere.
Lol, no they won’t.
They are people, and they do have every right to live there lives, but not consequence free. Racists, bigots, etc all deserve the hate they get. By using products they create and profit from, the user is helping fund that person’s beliefs and actions. I for one gladly will not use their products. The little bit of extra work keeping mental tabs on those products or companies and doing my best to avoid them is far better than supporting them in any way. I don’t always avoid them and in some cases it’s not feasibly possible, but I can try.
I think you answered your question in the body of the post. You just say, “we’re/it’s already here”.
