Venezuela has received an official Israeli diplomatic and military delegation following the devastating June 24 earthquake.

The mission, led by Israeli diplomat Yoed Magen and including an IDF Home Front Command contingent headed by Brigadier General Elad Edri, is the first significant bilateral engagement between Caracas and Tel Aviv since diplomatic ties were severed in 2009. Venezuelan authorities said the delegation will support infrastructure assessments and reconstruction efforts.

The delegation’s arrival comes amid a broader international response to the earthquake and has sparked criticism from sectors of the Chavista grassroots over Israel’s role.
