    If you’re asking what specific works to start with, though, Principles of Communism followed by Politzer’s Elementary Principles of Philosophy gives you an alignment in terms and basics, then a thorough overview of Dialectical and Historical Materialism, which is by far the most useful Marxist concept in general and will help the rest of theory learning go smoother.

    Either way, I would say requiring a “chapter” to be read before the meeting, then discussing the topic covered in the class itself would be good. Reading as a group generally is only useful if people aren’t going to be willing to read outside, otherwise I would recommend a lecture format.
