  • I have been using private trackers for 15 years now and have been extremely happy with them. I dont mind seeding back, plus not all of them have the ratio requirement. My tv show site knows it would be very hard to keep that from slipping so instead of ratio its just a certain length for episodes and season grabs. I really dont care about keeping my bittorrent app running since i leave my pc on anyway. As for sonarr it just copies the file to the new directory and renames it, after a few months ill do a cleanup that takes 2 min.

As for usenet, my coworker loves it but he definitely says it has issues which may or may not be an issue today or workarounds for it? He has said the takedown requests are so fast now that finding a lot of stuff that releases quickly can be difficult if you dont use sonarr or radarr to grab right away. Every now and then he has to ask me to find stuff.

The only real issues ive ever had is the instability where sometimes theres outages and not much you can do. I remember last year or maybe year before that one of the biggest had a 2 month outage and things looked bleak.

  • Thats crazy that you now need to prove you have a business to get that service? Don’t worry, it cost way more anyway and offers very little extra to be worth it at least in the US. I used to use duckdns years ago, and now I just said screw it and purchased a domain name from namecheap for a few bucks for the year and a few more bucks for the ssl cert then use the ddns service through them and link it to a pc on my network using the small app they provide to keep the IP updated. I use the name for all my services. Sometimes the name will cost way more when renewing in which case ill just pick another one because screw them. Ive used a .co and now using a .space.

  • Ive been saying this. The only way this succeeds is to sell this to businesses, but even then I feel like companies are realizing it’s way to much money to actually justify it because they want to reduce workforce and save money but this will not do that. In the end they get a great deal on the first few years before the contract is up and then have to renew at way higher pricing. Not to mention they have less control over the company and will be paying yearly maintenance fees that probably cost more than the raises they wouldnt have given their employees but now have to pay up those crazy fees every year no matter what. Yeah it’s absolutely going to fail for most things for the forseeable future. Someone will find a way to make it work eventually, but its still a ways off.

  • I think one company recently realized why AI won’t work as great as they expect it to. It’s expensive! It costs more than current employees. On top of that companies are handing over power to other companies who control the AI they implement. So the company loses lower wage people and control of elements of their own company, not to mention if the AI is used to talk with the customer they hate it and can lead to worse service which lowers the brands name. The last part is if it’s expensive now it will only continue to get more expensive not lower. Thats just not how businesses work. So that contract they signed today will most likely put a clause of 5% yearly annual increase and when the contract is up it also will most likely cost more upon renewal. So they no longer have the choice to stiff employees each year by saying sorry no raises. Idk how companies can justify this expense over an ectual employee.
