  • I mean you will really have to work at it considering how many instances there are. Also sounds like you need to use block. This space is a lot like an mmo chat. Easiest way to go is to peruse all and block as needed. I block sports and meme communities because I have no interest in them. Often times really niche communities if im not super geeky with the thing. And of course nutters. I mean climate change is a pretty popular topic on here so im not sure how you have had so many negative experiences around it.

  • Yeah and it kinda annoys me this is one of those tech things that seems to be all on the user and not on the company. If AI is so great why is not finding things through linkedin. I keep a robust amount of info on it that is more than my resume plus it has my connections plus it has references I have been given and given to others. This is something that should be so paltry that software should be able to do it way before ai and llms. Somehow though its not up to a company to find a canidate but up to canidates to convince jobs to hire them or some such bs. I mean there is literally an open for work flag. I also very much agree that job seekers should be compensated. minimum wage for remote interview time and if its in person then a travel stipend as well. fifty cents a mile. I have felt this way ever since I had my first day long interview. We will see how long they want to do interviews if it actually cost them.

  • Yeah I just disagree here and would not want it. Part of it is hey its great your making calls from the hip but the fact is its all debateable. Most buddhist temples could easily reshingle as yoga or tai chi studios and just lean heavily on the philosophy. I mean if you meet someone really into either. To the point they teach. Its almost impossible to not take on the philosophy around it and talk about it in classes. Honestly even in most martial arts you have a lot of this. Not to mention im not going to hamstring their ability to do good works. soup kitchens and such. im not going to have them shutdown because they are run by a church and have a prayer before a meal. The whole thing is kinda creepy to me. I invite some friends over and now I might run fowl of some public space law even though its my property. Yeah I mean you could give me all sorts of examples but I just disagree its such and easy clear cut thing to do and even it if it was I don’t think I agree its a good thing to do. If such a thing where being pushed in societ despite being athiest now I would stand with the church group to protect their right to have their houses of worship. Again tax wise I can see getting rid of special privlege, not allowing it in public property sure, but some sort of state erradication is to orwellian for me.

  • I think we have times were we are on a generally improvement in our trajectory which to me are the good times. They still have a lot of improving to do but improving is the goal. This often comes down to the philosophies that the populace and leadership have. I think we can get back on an improvement track but yeah it does not take much to do aweful things and tear down whats built. I mean nature is pretty brutal and ironcially cooperation is basically our species super power. Unfotunately you don’t need 100% of folks cooperating and above a certain threshold those that don’t end up having an advantage.

  • some software steam automagically uses your steam credentials. I think part of it is deals with the game developers. So you have to launch the game such that your steam account does not get involved. So basically stand alone. Was easier with play on linux but lutris and wine-ge are not running what I want. I see in the lutris logs it seems to be still calling to steam proton areas even though I installed it with the wine option.
