  • Just planted seeds for sugar baby watermelons last Sunday been. These seeds are from the last set of watermelons I had last year, so this is a first for me where I actually use seeds from fruit I have eaten. I still have heaps of seeds left over, so I am now setting up another raised garden. So I will probably have double, if not triple the harvest from last year.

Lemon tree flowers have nearly all been exhausted, so I think I will be getting a large batch of lemons. My other citrus trees are starting to flower now, so not sure if they will be covered in flowers and bees soon, of if they will be a bit more conservative. The pineapple orange I have planted is still really small, so I am pinching the flower buds off of it so it can focus on growing up. Maybe next year.

Setting up a new garden in the middle of my back yard. Going to focus on planting natives in it. I get three free trees from my local council every year, so that will be the focus for this little garden. Still pretty ugly at the moment, haven’t gotten rid of the grass yet, so will post photos once it is complete.

Overall, exciting start to Spring. Been a really hot end to Winter and start to Spring here in Queensland, so all the plants are getting excited and flowering heaps.

  • Very much reeks of vote buying. “Hey Australia, look at all this free money we are passing on to you.”

I mean, thanks I guess, but I am already getting a massive benefit from the stage 3 tax cuts. Why not take that $3.5 BILLION and invest it in something that will keep energy prices down for ever, rather than band-aid over it for 12 months. By all means, give the rebate to low income earners and those in real need of it, but people who are not struggling in the slightest should not be getting the rebate.

I guess the government have to play to the lowest common denominator in the voting base. Not all Australians understand that this money isn’t actually free and it will cost us in the long run (every subsequent budget for the next decade is predicted to be in deficit rather than surplus).
