If i’m idle during those I still get the nasty grams, and 50/50 on any of them he asks if I took the day off because he doesn’t see it in the team calendar or HR’s PTO official system, even though there’s zero expectation for us to take PTO for a doctor’s appointment or other errand that takes a couple of hours at any point.

Guy has taken a day and a half this week to work on his own personal stuff without requesting PTO. I took 1.5 hours on one day and got nastygrams (the “I don’t see your pto in the pto calendar” (again, tells me in person not to put it in… but every time i’m remote and idle for an appointment there’s now a record in writing asking me where I am and why I didn’t take pto.)

Later, when I see the guy in person he totally understands and it’s not a problem… so what the fuck are you messaging me for like this asshole? Why? The fuck is your problem? It’s in my fucking calendar, and i’m not taking actual time off or a half day or something - so why would I put in the team wide calendar that i’m going to a doctor? They don’t need to know!

My boss loves sending me messages saying “Are you working today?” within 3 minutes of being idle on teams at any point in the day.

Other times if i’m idle he’ll call me just to give me some busy work or try and “catch me” not paying attention or something.

In the office I can be idle on teams for hours at a time and there’s never, ever random spot checks for productivity… and we have no objectives, goals or project management (because he doesn’t think any PM principles are effective.)

Market Basket, Stop and Shop, and so many others still have people for this.

If it’s not on dnd it should still ring, not that hard to test though.

I passed on the reservation. 2TB is the worst variation because you’re paying the $300 extra for a 2TB nvme drive, and you don’t get the controller for $80 that retails for $100 and ebays for $300 (not that i’ve ever sold anything on ebay… but if i’m getting f’d by memory prices I want my purchase to be worth it vs the value. 2TB nvme drive for $300 more than a 512gb one is absolutely not worth it even with modern prices.

Is the picture really better though? All the new stuff has image processing crap due to refresh rate mismatches and loads of older content never got a HD release, let alone 4k. I’m never gonna stop watching stuff like Star Trek, and voyager looks like dogshit given it never got a release beyond DVD because of how they did the editing.

Don’t get me wrong, I know you can modify all kinds of settings to minimize the impact of the image processing. Turning off the processing gives you a ton of problems, and enabling the processing can work in some media but doesn’t work quite right in others.

With my home setup the difference between plex, netflix and other streaming services can be pretty big depending on the formats supported by the specific show even. It’s all a mess and if you want it to be right odds are you need to really mess with it and even then you only have so many options. Getting a new TV has not been as positive as I hoped for, but i’ve gotten used to it and just accept that some things look kinda garbage because tweaking one thing often makes one show better, but others might not be as good as a result.

So 720p streaming and a lot of maintenance.

I so very much want to ditch closed source but then i’m limited to piracy really, and any setup really requires hours of maintenance here and there at minimum.

Have there been a ton of big content changes since the EA launch?

I know they changed a ton of features like pet mounts and pokeball throwing due to morally reprehensible, anticompetitive nin lawsuits. That stuff can be modded back in - but I looked at a recent map and wasn’t sure how much it’s really changed over time or how many new things have been added.

What i’m hoping for is substantial improvements to base management and the metagame, along with loads of new pals. The bosses also seemed kind of weird compared to the rest of the game so changes to that / the story would be huge improvements for me too.

Sounds like a real easy system to counter. Since these jammers broadcast on a frequency you just need a sensor that detects that frequency for a missile to home in on and a few dummy drones to trigger the use of the jammers.

The service is the holy grail of MBA. You own nothing and pay constantly. Subscriptions galore and there is zero portability so high vendor lock-in once you start customizing. The pricing agreement is entirely one sided so the execs can set bonus payout performance objectives in ways that let them take advantage of properly timed price increases.

It’s similar to AWS, Azure and the rest of the cloud platforms and i’ve never heard anybody say moving to those saved them money even after staff reductions.

I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.

I dunno man, reads like an endorsement to me.

Retailers get a cut. Digital lets them keep a bigger portion of the pie. Sony / MSFT are probably more likely to give them a bigger portion of the pie given that by releasing exclusively on consoles it will move more console sales (and thus other game sales on their platform) given how large this release is.

If consoles didn’t give them a sweetheart deal we would see a PC release day 1.

I’m positive this is just austerity measures after folding in activision. They’re probably finding more and more ways to offshore american and western european jobs to poorer nations where they can pay the employees less $$$.
