dingus@lemmy.worldOPto PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Looking for guidance with troubleshooting system lockups unless the CPU is limited in softwareEnglish1·2 天前Is it even possible to remove and reset the CPU on a laptop? I’m kind of ignorant in doing that.
Essentially any laptop I have had has had a tendency to overheat (shitty design or just a limitation of laptops I guess), but I need to get some better temp monitoring software.
I exclusively use wall power, but I use the battery for a backup. It runs on the original battery.
Again, these issues have been present since the thing was brand new, so it’s not simply that the battery is old. But you might be on to something with the voltage being wonky. On some occasions maybe only less than a year into its life, the computer would give me a pre-OS error about the battery when I booted the laptop without the AC adapter. It would boot and charge normally so I just ignored it and the errors were infrequent…I never actually connected the two. It hasn’t shown me that error in years at this point now. You think that this is related?

I have the opposite problem. My dyer has the fucking loudest, longest, incessant cycle done noise I’ve ever heard from a dryer.
It buzzes at defcon 1 levels for I swear at LEAST 5 whole seconds (you count out 5 whole “Mississippis” of a fire alarm level noise and realize how long that is). And the kicker is that it does it not once, not twice, but at least three separate times. First, it repeatedly wars you that the cycle will end soon. Then it does one final triumphant wail when the cycle ends…as if you don’t take the laundry out instantaneously that a bomb is going to go off or something.
I absolutely cannot fucking stand this. I don’t even understand why it does this either. To me, washers should have end of cycle signals, not dryers. I’ve accidentally left wet clothes in the washer overnight and woken up to a horrible smell and had to rewash them. But when I leave clean clothes in the dryer? Literally zero issues occurs.
One day I’m going to figure out how to open up the damn thing and smash the buzzer.

Huge disclaimer: I’m at work so I can’t actually watch the video and so I can’t know the answer to this.
What the fuck even is this? Does anyone have a source because I am horrified and entertained
It’s because mortality is absolutely fucking terrifying. Anyone who says otherwise, be they atheist or religious or what, is just using some heavy copium/denial to try to deal with that shit.
Cue the inevitable response I get from this about insane people claiming that they are happy that life has an end point and that they will be happy that they will cease to ever exist again so some mold can be fed or some random bullshit.
dingus@lemmy.worldto Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•What popular holiday destination would you never want to visit and why?English2·9 天前I use to be a huge Disney theme park fan, but the increasing nickle and dining throughout the years has really turned me off. I still deeply appreciate and admire the architecture and artistry of the parks, but I am not a fan of the direction of the company as a whole tbh.
Usually this doesn’t happen to me actually and I know when things can be kind of messed up. But one time I was telling a story of when my dad threw a trumpet at my older brother which I thought was conceptually hilarious in retrospect as an adult. But yeah I got a similar sort of response as the OP lol. Don’t worry, all us kids are all grown up now and my brother is even no contact with my dad so it’s all good!

That’s odd. I have lived in apartment complexes for a large portion of my life. There has always been a single outgoing mail slot with the rows of mailboxes at the apartment complexes. It blends in so it might not look too different than the rest of the bank of mailboxes. This is in the US though so idk how other countries handle it.
I live in the southern US and I see them daily. They seem to be more common than squirrels. They run away from you though so they don’t bother anyone. At my old apartment, there was a period of time somehow lizards kept getting inside my place. I kept trying to free them but I would accidentally kill them when trying to handle them. Another one I just tried to let live in my apartment, but he quickly died…presumably from not being able to find enough food and water. They are super fragile.
dingus@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some of the stupidest, **non-political** takes you've seen on the fediverse?English3·13 天前You can’t say you like literally any product on the internet otherwise people call you a corporate shill. It’s frustrating because people sometimes like things…that’s just the nature of life in general. Sometimes you like something that was made by a company and not just already existing in nature…
Reminds me though…I recently got called a “Russian bot” by someone on Lemmy recently. I was super confused because the content of the conversation had nothing to do with Russia or the war or Russian viewpoints or anything. It was so out of left field that I had no idea what they were talking about.
I hear this but I don’t understand. All diet soft drinks taste absolutely disgusting to me. I’ve had both Coke Zero and Diet Coke and both have that disgusting fake sugar aftertaste.
I either get non-Diet soft drinks or I go flavored sparkling water. I can’t do that fake sugar shit. It’s nasty.
But the one exception for me is that I put fake sugar in my coffee. The bitter aftertaste of the coffee helps mask the aftertaste of the fake sugar.

Weirdly I don’t think I’ve ever had a “phase” like other people seem to have gone through. Is this common enough to not have had something like that?
I guess it was possibly as a teen when I was being LOLRANDOM on internet forums. Not sure if that counts tho because I have always been an internet dweller.

Omg hope she ended up healing up ok after a while. I know I’ve heard after a break that people don’t necessarily always fully heal which sucks.
Humans are messed up in general so it’s probably common enough tbh. My childhood was a bit different though. The arguing was never mutual. It was always my dad screaming at my mom while she sits there and takes it. I remember realizing that was abnormal by watching media growing up… realizing that couples are supposed to love each other and that fights are generally a mutual experience, not just one person belittling the other.
Anyway sorry that was oversharing lol
