Explain Like I'm Five@lemmy.world•Explain to me the SAVE ACT and how it effects the common Joe Blo and why does Trump have such a hard on for it?English
12·1 day agoThis explains a lot of it: https://www.vote.org/save-act/
The reason Trump/repubs want it is because the main effect will be to reduce the number of left-wing voters so that they can steal the upcoming elections.

DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•What are some problems you've had switching from Google logins?
8·2 days agoIt always seemed like a bad idea to link everything to your Google account. Now I know people who won’t leave Google purely for this reason. Glad you’re working your way through it

24·2 days agoAll sports are boring to watch but fun to play, for me personally. Even though I understand and have experience with them.

11·4 days agoTo each his own. I’d rather miss out on enjoying AI slop than miss out on feeling human connection to art.

Productivity@lemmy.world•I think most habit trackers focus too much on streaks.English
4·4 days agoI also hate streaks, it creates pressure and once you break them it is demotivating. I’d rather have whatever “credit” I’m getting for doing the thing continue to rack up even if I miss a day. Maybe even frame it like “in the last 30 days you did the thing in 20 of them (66%)” - then missing a day doesn’t put me at zero, and I still have incentive to drive my number up.

132·4 days agoA great painting isn’t great because it looks great, its great because a human who thinks and feels like you do experienced and created it. Same for a song or a book or whatever. Reflecting and resonating with the creator’s experience is fundamental to art. If you can’t enjoy that level of art I feel sorry for you, because it’s the most enjoyable part.
This is a bit like the chicken and the egg though. “You have to keep your content on reddit because there’s no strong alternative” just ensures there will never be an alternative. If you really want an alternative you can’t keep supporting the beast.
If we’re talking about making sure people can still find the solution you found to some obscure tech problem, all that matters is that it’s indexed and findable on a search engine, not how many comments it has
- We’re on an alternative right now, if something is valuable you can repost it somewhere
- (opinion) It’s better that someone can’t find an answer than to have them find it on reddit and continuing to give value to its evil overlords.
