Two kiwi chicks have been born in the wild around Wellington for the first time in more than 100 years, one year after the national bird was reintroduced to New Zealand’s capital.

    It seems like they’ve been released on private land at Terawhiti station and West wind farm. The best publicly accessible reserve would be West Wind recreation area, but that’s closed at night. So there’s no good legal option to see the kiwi until the population establishes enough that they make it to the council reserves in Karori.
