    This is not exclusively Polish. It’s the oldest trick in the book and it’s always disappointing to watch it work so well.

      Even here it Italy is has worked perfectly so far. Our position as a first destination for migratory fluxes is serving extremely well far right politicians with xenophobic arguments. Things are not going to end well for us and for th whole Europe (contagion is rapidly expanding). The economic crisis will do the rest. Meanwhile nearby autocracies are rubbing their hands.

      Exactly. I wonder if there are any case studies on a country leader using their megaphone to call out a specific class of people as undesirable…hmmm…

      The entire political establishment here in South Africa has essentially decided that poor immigrants from the rest of Africa and the middle-east are acceptable scapegoats for everything going on here… they aren’t doing it as openly as politicians in the rest of the world, though. Not yet, anyway.
