Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.
Maybe you’re new to c/stopdrinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.
It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!
You got this my dude! You’re doing great so far! For me, it’s the week mark that I mentally have to pull myself over, and then weirdly enough, in between the 2 week and 3 week mark. Days 8-14 are typically a breeze.
Don’t focus on tomorrow or the weekend or upcoming months or anything. Just today! Just one more sober 24 hour period is one more day of rest for your liver! Let him sleep just a little longer!

I went and got some breakfast and ran into a member of an old AA group I’m gonna return to next week (I’m not a fan but gotta try something). So that was useful.
Absolutely! That’s fucking awesome that you ran into someone that you know, understands you situation, and is a link to a support group.

Yeah at the very least I’ll have some people to call again when times get rough. Dunno if I’ll try working the steps again. But at least most of the people at this meeting are chill and it’s probably the least religious group in my city. Raw dogging reality hasn’t been working out lol.
