I’m looking for a smart vacuum that works offline for privacy reasons. Does one exist?

    check out recommendations on valetudo.cloud

If you can get a model you can root, valetudo replaces the cloud functions and makes it all local.

I can vouch for valetudo, the install process is surprisingly not as hard as it looks (depending on robot) and it has been working flawless for me.

I don’t believe I had to, but it was optional. You have to hold a jumper between some pins while the bot booted to put it into the Qualcomm debug mode thing. You used to have to solder a UART chip to the board but not anymore since the discovery of the Qualcomm debug mode.

Its called a vacuum. You plug it into the wall, get up off your lazy ass, and vacuum.

… then I think this isn’t the community for you. Home automation is for, you know, automating our homes: Not because it’s the only way, but because it’s the EASY way.

This is just an extension based on the same reason for your TV having a remote, your car (probably) has an automatic gearbox, your smart phone does much you needed a computer to do back in the days, etc.

      Convenience is king.
