What’s the quality like on old shows like Voyager? Still 480p?

Yes. And I doubt this will change anytime soon. Maybe in a few years AI upscales are good enough to remaster old TV shows at low costs. But until then, we’re stuck with this. Which I don’t mind that much, to be honest. It’s a product of its time, like every piece of art.

i’ve taken to watching one episode of ds9, one of voy, and one of snw a week, and i can’t agree more. i don’t even notice the resolution on the old two, it’s just how star trek is in my head from growing up - it feels right.

plus, too many rlm episodes where they show all the production equipment and mistakes that nobody noticed until the (ratio?) changed to widescreen, haha - i know it’s not the same as upscaling, but i don’t trust the studios/distributors 😂

This is why I hate the restored TOS. It looks ridiculous. It was made for old 1960s CRT TVs and the makeup and lighting were designed for that. Now I have to see the lipstick they put on Kirk… and I don’t think Kirk had that sort of need to wear makeup.

I mean not necessarily. As far as I know the original tapes are still somewhere at paramount studios, they could theoretically re-digitize them in a higher quality, but they didn’t care so far. That’s why I’m trying to figure out each time I see one of those shows arrive on a new platform, maybe there they did it.

Why is there an apostrophe? Anyway I wouldn’t recommend Paramount plus as it uses DRM. You should own the content you watch.

With that being said I mostly watch Star Trek on TV. Its on H&I 6 days a week. Unfortunately H&I is no longer going to be in my area May 1
