Trees are struggling to sequester heat-trapping carbon dioxide (CO2) in warmer, drier climates, meaning that they may no longer serve as a solution for offsetting humanity’s carbon footprint as the planet continues to warm, according to a new study led by Penn State researchers.

      Some will yet live if we get our shit together. But it might be time to redact some oil execs and force less long-distance trade.

    Trees are part of the short carbon cycle and can never be used to offset carbon released from the long carbon cycle. Having more trees is always a good thing, but it was never and will never be a solution to climate change.
