In Kansas, some critics questioned whether the measure would violate free speech and press rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment…
But critics of the bill, mostly Democrats, argued that the law could be interpreted broadly enough that LGBTQ+ teenagers could not access information about sexual orientation or gender identity because the legal definition of sexual conduct includes acts of “homosexuality.”
shakes grave of John Brown come back bud, we need you in Kansas again
Have you ever wanted to just be able to beat someone to death with your bare fists?
In minecraft of course.
every day and twice on sundays

Are Kansas Democrats really this stupid, or is it part of the good cop/bad cop act? Isn’t that the entire point of this bill?
How are they being stupid for calling it out for what it is?
The stupidity is for pretending that it’s a side effect instead of the purpose.
I think that could just be the phrasing of the article, most of the local activists I follow are saying its that straight up
no they are this stupid. It is not phrasing. In Kansas the minority politicians are afraid to look even the slightest bit combative, or like the Republicans are not acting in good faith.
And I’m sure their age of consent is like 10. But that’s for straight people.
is this driver’s license shit or will the kids just click “yes i’m over 18” like they always have?
I couldn’t find the text of the bill, but from a different story: "The bill would not require a specific method of age verification, only outlining that sites could use any “commercially reasonable method” approved by the Kansas attorney general.”
And if you haven’t heard of our piece of shit AG: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kris_Kobach “As Secretary of State of Kansas, Kobach implemented some of the strictest voter identification laws in the history of the United States and fought to remove nearly 20,000 registered voters from the state’s voter rolls.”
lol he can get in the woodchipper along with the people voting for it, but that’s probably just gonna be a button like all the porn sites.
Praying for the woodchipper option.
Several states have already passed bills like this and the response of actual porn sites was to just geoblock the whole state. This results in a noticable spike in searches for “VPN” in those states the day the law went into effect. The latest one was Texas.
I forgot Kobach won the AG election
Absolute clown that managed to try (and fail) at attesting that there is widespread voter fraud, then got pantsed by a Dem in the gubernatorial
I would say I’m amazed his political career is still alive, but… gestures broadly
The porn industry is a cancer and its increasing normalization has disgusting side effects. This isn’t really going to do anything about that though.
Honestly, introducing children to lgbt material would probably help lessen the hyper-misogyny that leads to them looking at porn reflecting that. Showing young men that there’s a whole range of how they express themselves and their feelings towards people would do wonders instead of the usual “hit the gym and clean your room” advice

What this does is set people back decades in social and emotional development. They want to put everyone back in the closet. They think being queer is a kink or manufactured. The only prefrence is being honest with one’s self and others. The state Ministry of Truth will claim any site existing stating queers exist as a p0rn gateway and prosecute people. Which will be funny to see them lose their case.
I hope this is brought up on 1st amendment rights. I hope the state is sued out of a shit ton of money.
