Pixel 9: with a 6.03-inch screen and a double rear camera. This is the heir to Pixel 8.

Pixel 9 Pro: with a 6.1-inch screen and a triple rear camera. This is a new model.

Pixel 9 Pro XL: with a 6.7-inch screen and a triple rear camera. This is the heir to the Pixel 8 Pro.

If we get Pixel desktop I will def have to be upgrading to 9 Pro come Black Friday…

I hear ya. It’s not great. The old ones on the P5 and P4a we’re the best. It drives me crazy.

But sadly those phones are no longer receiving software support and there are really no viable alternatives.

The most important thing to me is software. And regardless of if you choose the stock Pixel experience with handy AI assistant and spam-handling features or GrapheneOS, they are both the best at what they do, and both only available on Pixels.

Yeah, agreed. I should clarify that I have a P7 with Graphene. I would just stick with it if it’s the same one on the P9.

I’m running a Pixel 7 with graphene too, but have never had any issues with the fingerprint reader. Where would an ultrasonic improve over the current version?

(Genuinely looking to understand, fingerprint sensors aren’t something I’ve thought much about!)

Tbh they don’t even need to be ultrasonic. Samsung seem to manage good optical fingerprint sensors, but for some reason Google still can’t seem to get it right.

Does anyone know why vendors keep using crappy UD fingerprint sensors? The power button scanner in some Redmi phones was the best type of scanner I’ve ever used. Literally, I pull out my phone from my pocket already unlocked.

The fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone is literally the best place for it and it was faster on the Pixel 2 than it is on the 8.

And combine that with a face unlock for when your phone is on a table, and there’s actual usability.

I’m on Pixel 7 Pro and after this winter (dry hands) I’m leaning towards iPhone. I’m so sick of failing the fingerprint scanner 3-4 times before having to resort to the pin code.

FaceID worked so well on the Pixel 4 XL - why isn’t any Android manufacturer picking it up??

Still stuck on my 3a XL waiting in vain for a headphone jack…
