Same energy as YouTube putting background play behind a paywall.
Simply anti-consumer.
Or rather, salami-slicing away functionality that used to be free
That’s why I use innertune on my android phone
Jokes on them, I transitioned to listening to same song for the next 6-7years.
Spotify plays always the same songs after a while anyways. There is still no real shuffle in fucking 2024!
No-one on this thread has used the word “enshittification” yet, so first, I guess.
meanwhile I’ve quietly moved to slef-hosting and physical media.
They started this move almost a year ago. It has broken lyrics on many songs even if you pay for premium service.
Most of the time there is no lyrics ,or it is simply broken
Yeah who tf even looks at lyrics while on Spotify anyways
I do, especially when the songs that I like come in, and I want to know the lyrics.
I moved to Tidal after watching this video about a month ago, haven’t looked back, can still use Spotify ad free when it comes to podcasts, win win!
I don’t have 45 mins to waste - tl;dw: for the video?
Well it’s certainly not a waste, Some More News is top notch YouTube, funny and well researched. I almost guarantee you’ll enjoy it (put it on 1.5x speed or so).
But I guess the deciding point for me is that Tidal pays the artist around 5x more than Spotify - tidal pays the most of any streaming service. But the video goes into detail about how Spotify is owned by the record companies, why Taylor Swift fought against Apple Music, how Apple Music tried to screw musicians out of streaming revenue, it’s all a mess, and Tidal comes out consistently on top.
If you’re into a content creator maybe it’s not a waste but I don’t have 45 mins to get the gist of video to understand a comment so it’s a waste to someone in that regard.
Appreciate the summary, that’s good info to have.
I don’t know if the video calls it out but Tidal also integrates into Plex, which is amazing
Most of the stuff I listen to never had lyrics support or had incorrect lyrics anyway.
Foobar2000 FTW.
