The game got way better two years ago, and it continues to grow and get updates.

I’d love to play it, but I can’t get behind paid for server access. I don’t see why I can’t local host it for whew two people in my life I would play with.

I tried it when I used the gamepass trial and it simply doesn’t feel like Fallout to me. And sure the show helped a little but the numbers aren’t even that high and already dropping. With it’s disastrous release and old tech it will never be a big thing anyway.

Kind of a shame Bethesda slept on the show so hard they’re opting for a cheap and quick Fortnite collaboration now to make at least some money from the hype before the show concludes in a couple years. Because they won‘t have anything ready by then either.

Which is a baffling shame because honestly they could just buy the rights to some of the bigger mods and integrate the fully and they’d never have to make another game again. Instead they repeatedly dick over our ignore the best part of their games.

Private worlds are over hyped, the way the game works you kinda need a large server or events will be failed left and right. I’d just recommend ripping the band-aid off and playing on public servers. It’s extremely fun and the sense of belonging and community is wonderful.

Bethesda had to sabotage Fallout 4 in order to steer folks towards 76. If Fallout 4 worked with mods at that time, 76 wouldn’t have gotten as much traction.

I went back to play FO4 with mods and it honestly still fucking sucked. The AI was so bad I started to wonder if the mods were making it worse. Like seriously awful AI in basically every interaction. It’s hard to get immersed in a world when everything’s so damn clunky and awkward.

The sad thing is fo76 has one of the coolest mechanics of the series. Mutations. I wanted to play it more though my ISP is garbage and frequently disconnects.

It’s not a bad game. Fallout purist fanboys are just pathetic and louder than the people who enjoy the games.

76 literally destroys 4. It’s so much better it’s almost funny that people actually prefer 4 over 76, unless they can’t get over the online aspect.

Don’t bother. It’s just fanboy butthurt bandwagon hate. Let them be as negative as they want; the vast majority of fallout fans clearly enjoy the game. Bethesda could give them everything they ever wanted and it still wouldn’t be enough.

No offense to anyone who enjoys them, but I’m so sick of the “[bad] game is good now!” narrative. Fallout 76 is a six year-old game, and was in development for several years before that. In the context of game reviews (which I care about), Release Date is important, it’s when it has the most exposure, the most sales, and when review embargos end. So if you can’t have your game fully-completed by then, you probably shouldn’t release a half-finished, buggy game. Right?

Games like No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, and others might literally be better now than at launch… But what are we supposed to do, have reviews regularly updated to match the current state of a game? Actually, I would like that, if games journalists could do this. But until then, the game needs to be fully completed on launch, or suffer your permanent bad score…

I’m just waiting for cross progression to play again. I’m not fucking grinding everything again nor am I going to rebuild my wonderful little house. Fortunately, both Phil Spencer is also peeved by it and Todd Howard said it’s up to the team if they are annoyed enough to go ahead with it.

Doing the same myself. Trying to finish New Vegas since the last time I played it bricked my ED-E, then do a playthrough of 4 and actually finish the story after the hundreds of hours I’ve played.
