    They chose Long Beach, CA in case anyone is just skimming Lemmy. According to another article, one of the main reasons was to attract engineering talent.

    Rivian is based just 25 miles south in Irvine and there’s Fisker in LA. Tesla and Lucid have a presence in the Bay area, so could be a play to lure those who want to relocate south as well.

      Yeah, that’s cool and all, but how are they going to pay engineering talent enough to move out there? LA and Orange County housing isn’t cheap…

          I guess it depends then on the number of engineers, but they’d probably need a substantial pay raise to justify moving out to such a high COL area.

    It’s good they’ve finally got bullied into building affordable EVs. Still to be seen what they consider affordable my guess is the $30-35k mark. Also will they make smaller, reasonable cars or just platform the bulky SUVs?
