If they reutilised the effort they used in implementing the AI into making sure games were more compatible and they’d have sold even more

I am honestly not too sure if better gaming compatibility would have that big an effect.

X86 game compatibility on ARM is an eternal struggle with lots of edge cases.

Also worth noting that it’s likely gaming isn’t that big of priority for people who are looking for “then and light” type decides (with no dGPU).

They can’t really sell a linux laptop to the average consumer.

Don’t get me wrong, I use linux myself (albeit on headless Raspberry Pi), but it can be difficult for people coming from Windows/MacOS.

Why not? ChromeOS laptops sell and I find those more difficult to use than Linux. It’s not even necessary to tell people they’re using Linux. Many will think it’s a windows upgrade. I think what’s needed is proper marketing. Don’t mention the word “Linux” anywhere and provide the OS as a default. The majority won’t even know they’re running linux.

I’ve installed linux on many devices for people now and had very few support requests. KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE and other DEs resemble Windows a lot, and with the added “open this, it’s your app store - yep, just like on your phone”, it’s been enough.
