    Why not? ChromeOS laptops sell and I find those more difficult to use than Linux. It’s not even necessary to tell people they’re using Linux. Many will think it’s a windows upgrade. I think what’s needed is proper marketing. Don’t mention the word “Linux” anywhere and provide the OS as a default. The majority won’t even know they’re running linux.

    I’ve installed linux on many devices for people now and had very few support requests. KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE and other DEs resemble Windows a lot, and with the added “open this, it’s your app store - yep, just like on your phone”, it’s been enough.
