Donald J. Trump is faces felony counts in the State of Georgia regarding Trump and his allies illegally seeking to overturn the state’s election results.
If Trump is charged it will mark his fourth Indictment in five months and the second to arise from his efforts to overturn his loss in the 2020 presidential election.
Trump was charged with 13 counts, including violating the state’s racketeering act, soliciting a public officer to violate their oath, conspiring to impersonate a public officer, conspiring to commit forgery in the first degree and conspiring to file false documents.
Among those named in the sweeping indictment, charged under Georgia’s anti-racketeering law, are Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor who served as Trump’s personal attorney after the election; Trump’s former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows; and several Trump advisers, including attorneys John Eastman and Kenneth Chesebro, architects of a scheme to create slates of alternate Trump electors.
Also indicted were two Georgia-based lawyers advocating on Trump’s behalf, Ray S. Smith II, and Robert Cheeley; a senior campaign adviser, Mike Roman, who helped plan the elector meeting; and two prominent Georgia Republicans who served as electors: former GOP chairman David Shafer and former GOP finance chairman Shawn Still.
Several lesser known players who participated in efforts to reverse Trump’s defeat in Georgia were also indicted, including three people accused of harassing Fulton County election worker Ruby Freeman. They are Stephen Cliffgard Lee, Harrison Floyd and Trevian Kutti. The latter is a former publicist for R. Kelly and associate of Kanye West.
A final group of individuals charged in the indictment allegedly participated in an effort to steal election-equipment data in rural Coffee County, Ga. They are former Coffee County elections supervisor Misty Hampton, former Coffee County GOP chair Cathy Latham and Georgia businessman Scott Hall.

She described the landmark indictment against Donald Trump and allies for attempting to alter the 2020 elections. Ms Willis said the indictment alleged a “criminal conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in this state” which had “the illegal goal of allowing Donald J Trump to seize the presidential term of office.”
The prosecutor announced a deadline of 25 August for the defendants to turn themselves in.

Bro I keep seeing these kinda news but the question is will he ever go to jail?
Excitedly the crimes he was charged with today have minimum sentence AND are GA state charges only - so he cannot pardon himself even if he were to be elected president again. (GA GA (LOL) could likely drop the charges if the Trumpists were to take over enough of the state, again, I guess)
Yeah, more indictments are fine, but I am not celebrating until he is in jail.

Same here, it seems like the most logical punishment. If you lock him in a jail cell then his neo-nazi army will try to break him out. Put him in house arrest with no access to social media and call it a day.
I think it’s more about logistics of Secret Service in a prison.
I wasn’t hopeful he’d ever be convicted but… FOUR indictments!? Dozens of counts???
And just think - if he won reelection, odds are NONE of these would have happened and instead we’d probably be protesting a plan to remove his term limits as he solidifies dynastic power.
My money is on no. I don’t think we’re getting everything done before the election, his lawyers are just going to delay delay delay. Once the pressure of the election is over the judges will take all the time in the world to make sure things are right. Then there are appeals.
It will probably be years before everything is finalized, and at some point pardons are an option, agreements to pay fines instead of jail time are an option, and…delay until the unhealthy then-80-year-old…avoids the situation permanently.
Will probably die before he gets there honestly.

Odds are low hell be imprisoned. Likely no jail time either. He’s a low flight risk and will definitely have the money for bail. He’s the former president of the United States. He’ll likely face house arrest for the rest of his life if I had to guess. He deserves prison, but he likely won’t get what he deserves.
(He could potentially face the death penelty for treason though, but I highly doubt that too.)
Many countries have put past Presidents in jail.
If they can do it, we can figure out how-to as well.

Romania also handled theirs pretty permanently to avoid retours. And of course they know to be double plus safe about potential vampires.
None of the charges (so far) involve treason or the death penalty. Not even life in prison. Although given Trump’s age, any prison sentence could effectively be a life sentence.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone in the legal system accuse him of treason charges. That’s mainly the public calling for that. Insurrection and obstruction, yes. Attempted coup, yes. But treason in the legal sense has a very strict definition.
Brain aside, I think he should be charged for treason too.
Yeah, he hasn’t been accused of it yet, but he reasonably could. I don’t think prison will happen for him, but I could see that at some point in the future, but highly unlikely. He’s too old to bother with probably.

No. He’s rich, old, white and an ex president. The system is designed for people like him to not go to jail. The government would also never allow an ex president to be in jail.
The most we can hope is him being kept busy with all these court cases till he dies from a big Mac. But he will never ever be in jail, and I think people need to accept that.
I will be very surprised if the cheeto spends a single day in jail.
