At my dentist’s they used to have a picture of a mountain on the ceiling. Now it’s a lovely cartoon graphic that’s as dense as “Where’s Wally?”!

You know you can close your eyes, right? As a side effect it reduces the risk of something getting into your eyes while the dentist does their job.

My dentist and I had an understanding.

I’d put in headphones and listen to a book with sunglasses on, and pretend he wasn’t there unless I needed something, and he would shut up, do his job, and pretend I wasn’t there unless he needed me to do something. It was a good system.

But the takeaway here is you can totally wear sunglasses at the dentist and avoid that problem entirely. Also nicer on your eyes. They don’t care. It’s awkward af for them too.

        Super happy to help, friend!

It was game-changing when I realized I could just… wear sunglasses whenever I like (within reason) as long as I can still see.

I take xanax for the dental visits because they won’t let me in otherwise. I also close my eyes and pretend to meditate. Then I leave and my sibling drags my catatonic body home.
