Microsoft have announced that the Xbox 360 store will close on July 29th 2024.

After this date it will no longer be possible to buy digital games or DLC from the Xbox 360 console.

All previously purchased games and DLC will remain playable and downloadable on the Xbox 360.

All Xbox 360 games and DLC that are purchasable via the store on Xbox Series S and Series X will continue to be available after the Xbox 360 has closed.

The store closure will not affect Xbox Live and games that are still supported by their publishers will continue to be playable online.

The Microsoft Movies & TV app will also cease to function on the Xbox 360 from July 29th 2024.

I hope some of the people who buy games on console digital store fronts see stuff like this and stop doing that.

If people want to, they can still download what they bought. They just can’t buy new stuff. So, if they want to, they can download it all and back it up for posterity if they want to. They have time.

How is that? The store is closed, but you can still download from your purchased library. It’s not like Nintendo that you lost everything once you switch machine. How could it get away with that?

I’ve never felt the urge to go back and play anything I bought on the PS3 or Xbox 360 digital stores. I’m not losing any sleep over this
