Mfw a political commentator goes to a major political event.

Hasan spent the entire time interviewing uncommitted delegates, Palestine protesters, labour organizers, and so forth. Not to mention he was given a press suite worth tens of millions of dollars to book, for free.

I don’t see what the problem is? It just seems that Empanada is trying to maximize viewership from the Vaush and Destiny crowds.

Fuck that guy so much, I don’t even care much about Hasan and don’t know what this recent drama is but I just see FedEmpanada and have to dunk on him every time.

Whats wrong with badempanada? I’ve seen a few video essays from him that I thought were pretty solid. Also what exactly is an ultra? I saw this mentioned in other comments

He’s got good takes on 90% of things and has good videos, but his personality outside his serious content is very irritating, the guy just enjoys riling people up and being a troll online, which can get annoying fast.

Ultras are basically entitled “leftists” that think AES countries are all revisionists or not “real” socialism, and generally end up falling for US state department propaganda about every foreign socialist project.

I wouldn’t call Badempanada an ultra though, his videos on the shining path make that quite unlikely.

He once made a video about the “Uyghur Genocide”. That’s already enough to know the level of the guy.

While I haven’t watched BadEmpanada’s videos about the fictional Uyghur genocide, my understanding (and I could be very wrong) was that he wasn’t saying it was all real, he was saying that China might have actually committed some atrocities/major human rights violations, and that socialists shouldn’t dismiss accusations just because we don’t like them. But that the U.S. government was grossly exaggerating China’s actions and spinning them into an extremely negative and slanderous light.

Namely that imprisoning people for being affiliated with terrorist groups, depending on the degrees of separation and circumstances, or sentencing people to prison or rehabilitation facilities or “forcing” them into education or job-training technically is a violation of their autonomy and individual rights, but it’s genuinely for the greater long-term individual and societal good, kind of like forcing a sick person to take life-saving medication against their will.

But that being said, I’m really suspicious of Bad Empanada and how he seems to be carrying water for the fascist Amerikkkan colonial empire’s lies of genocide, and I feel disgusting typing all of this and I’m not trying to defend him.

Edit: I guess BadEmpanada has an account here.

Didn’t he and the uncommitted delegates get kicked out? Unless he joined the clapping seals to cheer the genocide, what’s the issue?

I don’t think this is that big of a deal. Some of y’all are reacting way too strongly at this.

Just so we’re clear, he is very much not an ultra. His takes towards Global South states are much too well-rounded for that to be true.

BadEmpanada is just pissed that Hasanabi isn’t even more of an advocate for Palestinians, which is a fine point of view. If it makes some people advocate more strongly for Palestine, that’s always a plus.

His main channel does pretty great work. For example, he has really good videos on Israel, Kurzgesagt’s pro-capitalist climate change propaganda, and how Wikipedia lies about the Holodomor ‘genocide’.
