I am jumping straight from reading this comment to trashing op without fact-checking this claim that they’re wrong btw
Still inaccurate – 1.7% of GSW patients are there for GSW to the penis (GSWP). By only considering patients, there’s a bias against GSWs where treatment was not sought. If a bullet grazes my shoulder while I was doing something I don’t want known to everybody, I might try to treat it at home. GSWP? I’m going to see a doctor, a real doctor, not somebody’s cousin who almost finished nursing training, an actual doctor, so the second wound ends up in the numerator and denominator while the first contributes to neither.
It’s wrong, 1.7% of gunshot wounds are to a penis, but it includes assaults, not just people shooting themselves.
