Donald Trump said in an interview released on Sunday that he did not think he would run for president again in 2028 if he loses this year’s race for the White House.
In an interview on the Full Measure television show with Sharyl Attkisson, the former US president – who ran in 2016 and 2020 – was asked whether he saw himself running yet again in four years time.
“No, I don’t,” Trump answered. “I don’t see that at all.”
He said: “Hopefully, we’re going to be successful.”
It’ll be difficult to run for president inside a cell.
Difficult but not illegal or impossible.
And that’s assuming that he’ll ever see consequences anywhere near that magnitude for his many crimes. Which is unlikely.
I’m sure a decent amount of people would still vote for him despite him being in jail. If there’s box for him on the ballot, they’d probably even vote him after he died.
Some of these people still struggle with object permanence though. There will be no rallies, softball interviews, debates, etc. he will just fade away in their minds.
Eugene V. Debs did it, but he was a man of considerably greater conviction than Trump.
Somehow my response wound up as a Direct comment.
