I still have my Coleco Vision, 2600, 5200, 7800, NES, SNES, 64, and Sega Master System.
Aside from holding on to them because they remind me of something, I don’t play them beyond turning the systems on to make sure there’s no burst electrolytic capacitors. The games mostly suck ass. Anyone who says that they’re some great call back to blah blah blah is smoking something fun.

There are a few games from the old consoles that really are classics and can provide a few hours of good fun any time.
On the whole, though, you’re right most of those games were almost unplayable at certain points or straight up didn’t function properly
