Today, we permanently banned 90,000 smurf accounts that have been active over the last few months. Smurf accounts are alternate accounts used by players to avoid playing at the correct MMR, to abandon games, to cheat, to grief, or to otherwise be toxic without consequence. Additionally, we have traced every single one of these smurf accounts back to its main account.
They flagged my account as being tied to a smurf account (didn’t get banned or anything), but I never even owned, created, or used another steam account.
I wonder if it could be because I play at the local net cafe sometimes? They could be seeing a lot of accounts from the same IP?

Possibly. False positives are bound to happen. I’ve never been to net cafes, do you use your own account there or do you play on a shared account?
I always play on my own account there, shared accounts are usually when people want to play paid games they don’t own
Yeah idk maybe contact Valve support, I’ve had relatively good experiences with them regarding VR stuff.
There seems to be a problem with netcafes, let’s hope Valve will take this into account
