Half way through the series now, what do you think
We gotta get this community engaging more guys.
Having no one here to talk about the episode with tempted me to return to Reddit for the first time since June!
I thought todays episode was awesome. Fantastic duel content. Baylin seeming genuinely frustrated that Ahsoka defaults to violence was interesting. He may be one of the most exciting characters we’ve been given in the Disney era
Man is a fucking refrigerator of a knight and moves like a brick shit house while also dropping some mad persuasion skills lol
Rest in peace to his actor. He was doing phenomenal work with the character.
My problems with the fight scene is that in her other shows Ahsoka was much more acrobatic in her fights. She relied on a lot of movement that’s easier to animate than act out.
That’s something I just have to get over, but i miss OG Ahsoka
I definitely agree. Practically it’s likely due to the limitations moving from animation to live action. But my headcanon is just that she’s a bit older and that’s visible in her style.
She’s older and matured. She’s realized function over fashion is good too
Shes also fighting singular strong opponents over groups.
She’s spent years hiding her force powers to avoid discovery.
Hopefully the next episode will have different directions in regards to the acting. Ahsoka should be portrayed as more vulnerable around Anakin, despite her years of development and maturity imho.
I think they’re building to this, as she was put off at the mention of Anakin in the last fight scene.
In regards to the fight scenes, I do miss the old Ahsoka acrobatics, but the show deals with this well by directing them to be more samurai inspired, literally playing more towards Ahsoka as a kind of sci fi Musashi. Metered and slower pace fight sequences were nicely juxtaposed with the more rough and tumble style of the respective padawans.
I love that Baylan and Ahsoka were doing the “chess” of combat styles. Lots of evaluating stances and consideration before each burst of dueling.
Same here. I’ll finish the episode and the discussion thread isn’t even posted here yet. It’s the only time I go to Reddit now.
If we can get an episode thread posted before the episode airs, I’ll gladly start sharing my thoughts after watching. On Reddit I generally lurked but I’ll contribute here if the thread is present. Just don’t want to start a thread and then see there are multiple competing threads. Maybe we can get the mods to make one each week?
I second this idea
Your comment is how I learned that Ray Stevenson died. That makes me really sad, not only because he died, but I also think it was a fantastic character I would loved to see more about.
Agreed! I was thinking while watching this episode that this is some of the best live action lightsaber action and form since Phantom Menace. Ray Stevenson was doing great work with the Baylon character. It will be too bad if it is ultimately short lived due to the actor’s passing.
I’m blown away by how captivated I am by Ray Stevenson. His presence on-screen is just amazing. He’s definitely the stand-out member of this entire cast. I hope his character arc is wrapped up in this season because I don’t think any other actor would be comparable.
Dayum this episode was SO GOOD!
- Great Huyang vs assassin droid fight scene.
- Great duel between Ahsoka and the Inquisitor (and thank god he wasn’t someone significant as the fan theories suggested). The way Ahsoka ended the dude was SATISFYING! I’ve always found the rotating inquisitor lightsabers quite annoying.
- Great duel between Sabine and Shin! Loved how she used the mando anti force tricks from Rebels.
- And ohmygod the duel between Ahsoka and Baylon was magnificent! The way they were sizing each other up in the beginning to the actual fight (which thankfully actually felt like a gritty swordfight) was all amazing.
About the last scene: This is so interesting and weird! Why did Anakin have Vader’s Saber? Why did he say “Didn’t expect to see you so soon” to Ahsoka? Why was he expecting her? Why did the Imperial March play at the same time? I don’t think anyone pulled her in, simply because we don’t see anyone near her. I rewatched this part, and confirmed that Anakin appeared later (he wasn’t there when she was looking around). I believe that she “became one with the force”. Maybe this is what happened to Yoda, Obiwan and Luke when they died? Maybe this is why Anakin showed up with his Vader lightsaber to show how he was “post-Vader Anakin”? Maybe the Imperial March played to signify the villains’ victory over Ahsoka? I dunno…
I think the WBW is about to test Ahsoka and so that’s why Anakin is there but there’s a few things wrong. He has the wrong hilt (a clue for Ahsoka) and Vaders theme played (a hint for viewers)
I think she’s going to have to come to terms with the fact that this was Anakins destiny all along and even her staying in the order wouldn’t have saved him.
When she accepts that and accepts that she is not responsible for what he became and what happened she’ll be able to leave the WBW and it’ll likely make her a less apprehensive master to Sabine.

I enjoyed the episode. Much better than episode 3 (loved 1 and 2). I am starting to wonder if this show would have been better as a movie, though. I’m also concerned that people who didn’t watch Rebels / TCW may be totally lost and uninterested. For example, Marrok being a construct of Nightsister magik requires knowledge from TCW (or Jedi Fallen Order). As a hardcore fan, super into the show. But as someone who wants as many people as possible to enjoy it, quite nervous. Hopefully the second half is more accessible to the casuals.
I was really hyped to see WBW return, even if Anakin looked off. I wasn’t sure it would make the show, but the deep lore in Rebels was my favorite part of that show so I’m excited to see if we get more here. Wonder if the show will touch on the Ones and Mortis as well (I know Mortis is very controversial).
I find Baylon to be very interesting (Shin less so, mainly because she doesn’t talk much). I hope we get more of their backstory.
Glad we saw Hera doing Hera things, and hope she becomes a bigger part in future episodes. Was surprised Zeb wasn’t with Carson. Also I’m wondering if we’ll see AP5, a Kanan force ghost, or anything else from Rebels.
I don’t think a Kanan ghost is likely since you need to be trained for that (or be whatever Anakin is) but I could see him appearing in the WBW.
Hello Snips. Man talk about a cliffhanger. This episode was great. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I love the Filoni force lore, and if Ahsoka’s time on mortis PLUS her previous yank into WBW means she warps there any time she almost dies…that’s gonna be fascinating. There’s so much going on with her and the WBW and I’m here for it.
Imagine if anytime she “dies” she gets pulled into the WBW and has to clutch up gulag style to return lmao
Like some sort of test. Hence the Vader music at the end of the episode. I bet we’ll see her have to come to terms with her anger or trauma with Anakin becoming/Vader
Extreme fan lorecasting engaged…Anakin, Ahsoka, and Maul are destined to replace the ones of Mortis to keep balance in the force.
I’d pay to see a what if episode with those 3 trying to get along in some semblance of balance lmao.
How did Ahsoka get into the World Between Worlds? Did she literally just fall into it?

Interesting theory. Could the World Between Worlds be a sort of purgatory? A place where “Force Ghosts” can pass between times?
Detroit
I assume she was pulled like last time, just moments before her death.
Maybe it’s Ezra? Maybe it’s Anakin??? (Although I assume not, I assume he is just a force ghost.)
Maybe? She may or may not be traveling with a manifestation of the light side, so weird stuff tends to happen to her.
It seems a lot of people disagree with me but I think Rosario Dawson is fantastic as Ahsoka.
I think she looks the part great, Rosario is a good actress. I think she’s getting directed to be very wooden and I don’t love that. You can be stoic without being a one liner spamming wooden block.
Her and Sabine have virtually no chemistry on screen together and I think it’s the instructions they’re being given making them seem that way
I think she plays the character incredibly well, but doesn’t have the grace in combat that we see in CW and Rebels. Which… is ok. There are moments where the choreography really shines through (like the moment on the boulder when she does the spinny move), but she’s just a bit chunky with her movements. Otherwise, she’s an absolutely perfect casting choice.
I felt kinda bored for the first 75% of the episode. It was just fighting. The last 25% redeemed it. Baylen was great, and Hayden showing up made me incredibly happy. Although his de-aging distracted me a little.
Yeah my wife was very distracted by it as well. I am excited to see what happens with Anakin!
Ngl, I teared up a bit seeing Hayden.
Agree on the de-aging. I don’t think it was necessary or done well enough.
I think the de-aging while imperfect was better than the lack of it in Kenobi
Not sure it’s apples to apples though.
I don’t think that Hayden looks like he’s aged as much as Ewan did, and Anakin lived a long time before dying, so an aged Anakin makes a lot of sense where Kenobi should have looked a lot younger in his show.
It can also be fixed in a few years. After all, Star Wars is notorious for re-releases. Fixing up de-aging would be a good way to do this.
With all his “For the greater good” talk, I’m feeling like Baylan might be aware of the Grysk threat. If not, I’m excited to see what it is.
Edit: I just want to mention that I’d be insanely hyped to see the Grysk. I think it can be a great direction for Star Wars.
It’d be exciting because we have yet to see any official art of them. The one image every star wars YouTuber throws around is a fan art post on reddit
I think I remember people speculating that the grey beings pounding the drums in that star wars eclipse trailer might be Grsyk. I’d be cool with that look.
Also, if we get the Grysk we get Eli.
That was really good. Stressful at the beginning, getting into the fights, Sabine still learning, Ahsoka really going at it.
Surprised to see her in the WBW and damn what a cliffhanger

Remember when lightsabers killed people?
Im gonna offer a slightly different take.
There hasn’t been much star wars I haven’t liked.
All the shows have hit the nail and been top shelf for me. Clone Wars and Rebels delivered (in my opinion) some of the finest star wars content. Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Kenobi, for all their faults I adored them. Andor obviously a masterpiece.
I cannot gel with this show.
The dialogue is awful. The boy dropping “I’ve got a bad feeling” had me screaming “SERIOUSLY” at my poor tv.
The chemistry between characters is non existent. Monotone and wooden.
The pacing is horrendous, the story from the first four episodes could have been twenty five minutes in a well paced movie.
The acting (save for Ray Stevenson) is not good. I want it to be. Maybe it’s the direction? They just aren’t the characters I know and love from clone wars and rebels.
And it’s only a small thing, but why the hell did the people have to leave the room so the holograms could have a chat?! Wtf?!
I am so disappointed as I love all Star Wars but goodness me, this is not the one.
I hope it picks up I genuinely do but try as I might, I cannot see what others seem to with this show.
I typed a long comment and accidentally deleted it
Short version
Sabine and Ahsoka lack chemistry and that sucks. It’s like two rocks running lines together. They’re both talented so frustratingly this likely means they’re being directed to behave this way. Ugh
I’ve been loving this show but I can understand your gripes.
The saving grace for me has been Huyang and Baylan. And we better get more chopper screentime!
