From getting married in a borrowed suit to star of film and TV to president to esteemed wartime leader holding a nation together in the face of the Russian Empire throwing their entire Soviet legacy at them.
Hell of a 20 years.
Which actor do we want to portrait him in an epic 3h film or mini series about his life?
Assuming Chris Pratt is not available.
He should play himself. Just like he did in Servant of the People
Honestly this. The man’s an actor lmao
Not Chris Pratt, he’s turned into a douchbag.
Oh boy. I barely spend time on social media or ‘celebrity news’. Was not aware. What a shame. Thanks for the link.
Because? Genuine question, I thought he was a pretty laid back nice guy
Charles Martinet might be available
Would probably work better in either an animated version or some kind of educational Switch game.
Still, you just reminded me of someone else. If we use the same fancy de-aging techniques as in IJ5, what about Bruce Campbell?
I’d see more Bruce. Skip the VFX and just have old Bruce pretend to be younger
Steve Buscemi style
Pratt is kinda funny. he’s mostly a boring leading man, he was funny in Parks and Rec, and maybe there will be some kinda funny stories to be seen, if the war ever fucking ends. but has Pratt done dark shit like war crimes?
And if you squint real hard they almost look alike. Tomorrow War and The Terminal List come to mind. Not super dark but definitely a heavier tone opposed to other work he has done.
fair enough, but I still don’t see Pratt as Zelensky confronting the various massacres, such as Bucha, or having real empathy at all. You do know Zelensky is not a military commander? He is not a real-life action hero?
Action hero? No, didn’t think so. Depending on the outcome though, history might very well lean into that angle. Happened before.
Edit: Meant to say: in retrospect, history might very well be looking back at him in such a way.
this one bothered me, sorry to bring up old lemmy posts. but fuck that. history doesn’t lean. It looks that way in retrospect.
Old? Barely 80h. I’ve had much, much older posts in my feed (at some point anyways).
Terribly sorry mate, hope that wasn’t offensive or anything. I went back and adjusted my comment but kept the original so your reply still makes sense.
Learned something new today, thanks.
Hugh Jackman
Steven Segall
You mean the russian propagandist?
No I’m talking about the karate guy
You realise they are the same person right?
Edit: He is an Aikido practitioner not karate.
Well either way I think he would be a great Vladimir Zelensky.
I geuss you think fingernails on a chalk board is good music.
Dude was never better than C-list action. The only reason I would say he could act his way out of a paper bag is that he’s competent with a blade.
At the risk of sounding creepy - they both aged like wine.
the pictures are scarily boring compared to her recent comment that [not a quote] she would rather a partner who is present than a husband who is a historical figure
Wow, that’s a bit selfish on her part. Hope that was taken out of context.
sounds like a loving wife and mother frightened to death that her husband and the father of her children will not survive the ongoing fucking shooting war with fucking russia
i hope you are yours are well -folded arms emoji if that is a thing *and
she actually said, and a paraphrase cause i cant quite remember it.
i am being selfish, i want my husband back, my kids don’t see their father as much as they should
I think it is fair enough, all wives/mothers/husbands/fathers want the otherside back, and to live together. If she wasnt the first lady, it would be seen as a normal feeling.
Sounds like a very relatable statement for many folks in Ukraine right now
Yeah, absolutely. I cannot even imagine it.

Now, she reflects that she never dreamt of her husband becoming the “historical figure” he is today, saying she has missed him and needed him to stand by her side as her husband.
Despite what she said may be a “selfish” longing, Olena Zelenska said the president “really does have the energy, the will power, inspiration, and stubbornness to go through this war”.
It’s a bit out of context and BBC’s story isn’t word-per-word on what she said (there’s video interview as well) but the main idea is that she would rather live life where her husband was around instead of being historical figure leading a country in war. And I can absolutely understand that, I hope both of them (and all of the Ukraine) can soon return to normal and boring everyday life instead of air raids, active battlezones, mines and other explosives around cities and so on.
“Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
that’s entirely my bad on fucking up the paraphrase. she does not seem selfish in that way to me – but the way she said something one time in a much larger context seemed real to me. she was expressing the realities of being in a war. [deleted]
Very selfish. My ex-wife used to say the same thing, she wanted me to be a “father” and “husband” and stop going on business trips to Thailand every month. Some people don’t understand greatness
I can understand that one. Being married to someone that has an enormous target on their back (forever, even after this ear ends) can’t be much family fun. Always be careful, always worry if they come back home… I can see where she’s coming from.
And accepting is one thing, that doesn’t mean you have to like it.
Her last name is actually zelenska IIRC Ukraine has gendered last names
That’s very interesting.
Those are the eyes of a man who carries the weight of those he’s sent into battle. That’s the mark of a true leader.
What an absolute chad.
They are so sweet together.
So much better with a beard!
