EA will seemingly make The Sims 5, or Project Rene as it's currently officially known, a free to play game that allows user generated content in a monetisation model similar to Fortnite's.

The candidate will "own pricing of all content in this free-to-enter game, ensuring we have an optimal pricing and content architecture [and] provide guidance to content teams on in-game content needs to meet player demand.

Not much different than Sims 4’s abundance of DLCs, then.

    So something like Bethesda’s attempt at paid mods but way worse since it’s EA. And I’m calling it right now, it’ll still look like TS3.

    Not much different than Sims 4’s abundance of DLCs, then.

    Plus the Sims 4 base game is already free. So basically more of the same?

    As a series the Sims has allowed many small, independent creators to express themselves and make money off their creations; I hope this continues with the Sims 5.

    Edit: 4 was worse than 3 already so they must be trying at this point.
