Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Got myself a handheld emulator earlier this week (the Miyoo Mini Plus). Loaded it up with a bunch of retro games like Dangerous @Dave, Prince of Persia, Aladdin, Crash Bandicoot, Contra, Chrono Trigger etc, so that’s my weekend sorted.

Actually got it from Trade Me, they had a couple of these in stock luckily, so it was delivered within two days of purchase. But otherwise I would’ve bought it from Amazon or eBay due to the buyer protection they offer (+ more reliable tracking), instead of AliExpress.

Oh wow, this brings back memories! I love how years later you find out this game from your childhood was actually a tech demo.

And those shareware games. Crystal Caves and Commander Keen come to mind. You got this full length fun game for free, and then they charged you for the sequels. I never played any sequels though 😆

I really miss the shareware era, such a great way to try out games and apps (legally) without needing to pay for them.

And yeah, Apogee had so many bangers back then like the Keen series. I’m also playing Bio Menace right now, which is based on the Keen engine, and it’s still so much fun.

Oh I hadn’t heard of Bio Menace! I kinda went off the platform genre but enjoy the occasional familiar level of these classics.
