I had a couple classmates that pretended to be vampires back in elementary and middle school. They’d pretend their Koolaid was blood, complain about the sunlight, and bite their friends a lot. Not enough to draw blood, though. I haven’t kept up with most of them, but one guy is a teacher now. He seems pretty normal.
Yes, but from my end actually. I thought I had the ability to control the weather, and I went down this rabbithole when I read stuff about Mythicals and AWTOK from Wattpad. That place was wild, there were people claiming to be relatives of gods and were the “chosen ones” to represent mythicals in the war or some shit like that. One of them had a discord community server at one point and claimed they could “detect your mythical type” (some people tried using different accounts and they got different results each time LOL). As to how committed they are, they would listen to subliminals, practice magic every day, make designs for their desired mythical type, etc
I had to look up what AWTOK is and now I have to live with the knowledge that such a community exists…
It would be cool if it was just a fictional setting that people write in, but the fact that people genuinely believe it is pretty wild. I’m shocked that AWTOK apparently originated in the 2000’s. It seems more like a new thing for some reason. I knew of otherkin and therians in passing, but didn’t know anyone who was one. I’m assuming this is a conspiracy theory to explain why some people drop out of the community. Definitely not that they eventually grew out of it.
I went down the rabbit hole and holy fuck, this is terrifying. It’s a woowoo doomsday cult for kids.
