Last month, Microsoft announced that it would continue its put-ChatGPT-in-everything adventure with a new Windows 11 feature called Copilot. The company added generative AI to Edge and to the Bing-powered taskbar Search field months ago, but Copilot promises to be the most visible and hard-to-ignore version of Microsoft’s big AI push in its most visible and hard-to-ignore product.

Man, it’s easier now than ever.

I got a laptop for writing back at the end of the year. Set up dual boot, majority of the drive space for mint. Only reason I even kept win10 on there is one of the programs I use for self publishing ain’t WINE friendly yet. Fucking amazon, of course, lol.

But that’s literally the only thing I use it for on there.

On my desktop, I have two drives, because musicbee doesn’t play well with WINE either. So I still have 7 on the media drive, and mint on the main drive. I do use the win 7 plenty, because arrr matey, I like me songs to stay on that drive to cut down issues. It’s just way easier to download, tag, and play all on the same drive.

But for anything else, it’s mint. I started using it when win 10 came out because I could see the shitshow developing before it actually released, and started figuring out options. By the time it came around, I had settled into a few distros that worked well for me, and mint w/ cinnamon was the favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I love plasma, but mint and cinnamon just work for me so well.

Unless you’ve got professional needs for Windows, or you’re stuck with a killer program that won’t work via WINE, (or other solutions) any distro is better than 11. My kid got a laptop for Christmas, for gaming, and it’s on 11. Most annoying damn thing I’ve had to deal with in years.
