So, I have some doubts about a few things, if they are even possible/if they are working as intended/if they are coming soon.
1- Is it the intended beheaviour that the numbers of subscriptions seen from kbin and seen from Lemmy differ?
2- Is there any way to search for a username?
3- When searching for communities, will there be a way to filter/order by nuber of Threads/Comments/Posts?
4- I prefer in my home to look at content I’ve subscribed to, is there a way to set it as my preference to not look at the ALL page, but subscribed page instead?
Additionally I’ve not recieved any notifications from the answers to this thread, is it normal?
Profile > Settings, enable notifications. They are off by default (for now?)
I have mine all enabled but I still haven’t been getting notified of replies. Went and looked at my recent comments and found people had replied to them but I never got a notification
I’ve been finding that I often get notices delayed by several hours after the response itself was posted. I chalk it up to “forget it, Jake, it’s
ChinatownThe Fediverse.” Probably one of many rough edges scheduled to get polished in coming months.Kbin notifications worked fine up until a few days ago, its probably just due to server load.
I think with the current server for our instance notifications are a bit delayed but Ernest is working on getting us to a new server that should help with notifications and the overall amount of traffic.
I’m seeing the same thing, notifications aren’t happening for replies for me despite those settings being turned on.
Ah I just got the notification for these replies right now
I can give you some answers, right now there’s a lot of improvements and changes happening behind the scenes.
3 - that’s been actively discussed over at the dev channel, I think the overarching goal will be to make a more indepth search with filtering. I definitely think a 'context ’ drop-down would be great here, show me just users, magazines or articles that march xyz
4 - that sounds like a good candidate for a user setting, being able to choose from top, hot, newest or active, having another top like that just shows your subscriptions might be handy too.
Go to https://kbin.social/settings/general and choose the Subscribed home page.
Should be noted that this does not impact mobile yet.
Actually, if you are in mobile:
-
Click on the Kbin logo,
-
click on the clog wheel, and
-
change: “Show Top Bar” to “Yes”
That will show at the very top of the page links to All, Subscribed, Mod, Favorited, etc.
It always defaults to All when yo open Kbin, but you can quickly get to your feed.
Yes but when I first open kbin it defaults to all, no matter what settings are active.
Short of bookmarking /subs there is no way to have it auto open to what we are looking for

Was wondering why this didn’t work for me and that’ll be it, thanks.
So, I’m no expert. But my understanding is that
- that’s intended (because you’re subscribed to a “kbin mirror” of the OG community if I got this right)
- yes, “@FirstSeaLord@kbin.social” or for lemmy instances “@example_user@lemmy.world” (didn’t want to use an actual user name here youknow)
- idk, probably/hopefully?
- yes, under settings/general/appearances you can change that.
edit: what I’m personally waiting for is the opportunity to search with wildcards. So like “@news@lemmy.*” for all lemmy instances with communities named news.
thanks
Regarding 1: what if I’m subscribed to a Lemmy community using my kbin account the subscriptions of the same community shown from different websites should be equal or no?
I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works. The OG version only shows subscribers from their own instance. (but plz, don’t quote me on that)
Could someone tell me how to get rid of magazines from the all feed? I’m opposite of op and don’t care about everything there but there’s a few mags that pop up in different languages.
I’ve been searching for magazines with the mag name and blocking those channels. Idk if there is a better way or to do it from in the magazine itself? Hopefully magazine is the right term… whatever subreddits are called here.Click the magazine name to go to that /m/ page. There’s a button to follow or block on that page.
Here you go, it’s in the sidebar! On the mobile version it looks the same but atm it’s below all comments/posts (which I don’t like, but there’s fixes for that too)
It looks the same for users. (and maybe for whole instances? I’ve not tried that)
I’m assuming the language tags will eventually mean that you can say filter out German or whatever as well :)
Is there no side bar on mobile? Or am I blind?
You have to turn off infinite scrolling for the bottom of the page to appear.
Hopefully the unsub button is made a little more accessible in the next few months.
Appreciate the response. Ty
