Whatever he decides to focus on next (after some deserved time off!), I think it’s safe to say that he’ll have the communities support ❤️

It doesn’t have all the fleshed out features Apollo did. Yes it looks extremely similar but there was a wealth of features included in it.

It’s being actively developed right now. If you’re into software development it’s fun watching it being built on GitHub.

Apollo wasn’t built into what it was overnight. It took years. I know wefwef isn’t Apollo but it feels similar and is on its way to becoming feature-rich like Apollo once was.

Exactly. It’s also impressive how fast the development is, especially when the project founder was still doing all of it by himself. Within something like a week, he built my favorite lemmy experience.

I wish the instances themselves had good web interfaces. It might attract way more users.

Oh for sure! Not trying to take anything away from the amazing development that WefWef continues to show!

Yep, and while it’s extremely impressive for a web app, it’s still not quite as smooth as a native one.

Agreed but personally with wefwef the transition has had much less of a sting. It feels basically the same but just like Reddit is having a slow week

The Memmy team is killing it too! It’s definitely my favorite so far, and I put it where my third party Reddit app was on my home screen.

I’m testing 5 different iOS apps right now and Memmy is my favorite so far too! That said, I do like all the other clients and I think they aren’t far behind either. Props to all the devs putting in the work!

I tested a bunch of them too, and I also ended up getting access to Artemis for kbin, but I ended up leaving the Mlem TestFlight to give someone else a chance to try it, since I like Memmy. I’m sure Mlem will turn out to be an amazing app as well!

Thunder and Liftoff are interesting because they’re kind of like Android apps, but I like them too

Definitely not on the level of Apollo yet but it’s honestly already better then most other apps. Hopefully with a few more months of time they can get the little things right

I like Mlem but the fact that I can’t search at all really sucks. For now I’ll be using memmy until Mlem gets more features

I’m posting for Memmy now. It’s great but I’m not a fan of the logo nor the logo’s color scheme.

It does indeed. Can’t wait for Sync for Lemmy, and more users on the platform.

      Same.

Connect For Lemmy and WefWef are helping me get by since they have similar gesture support.

Connect for Lemmy is pretty good so far. It’s also getting daily updates the past few days. Big respect.

Yeah. The small userbase is what’s keeping me from committing to Lemmy. Maybe we can get some GPT-enabled bots in here to flesh it out some, lol.

Memmy is so good. And the rate of progress is staggering. The lead dev/repo owner is very nice as well

I got Apollo quite late into its lifespan so the newer one I’m definitely more attached to. Wanna do a little drawing of Apollo (prob the more recent icon) as a late tribute, as well - been meaning to learn how to draw and this would be the perfect motivation, might start next week when I’ve got time.

I just opened the Apollo app again yesterday and didn’t realize there was a goodbye song as well. Hit me in the feels again 😩
