What I love so much about pro cycling nowadays is how plentiful the resources in expert race analysis are and how deep the access is to the cyclists in the ground. Between YouTube Channels and podcasts, you can get alternative live coverage of a stage from the Lanterne Rouge YouTube channel or get race analysis in podcast form by current pros (and as was the case with Geraint Thomas at this year’s Giro the actual GC leader of the race!).

The accompanying coverage has become a major part of my excitement of watching pro cycling.

So I was wondering: What YT channels, podcasts or else are you guys listening to or watching this season?

My go-tos are Lanterne Rouge and then Chris Horner’s analysis video. Both very insightful and they really highlight key aspects of the race that completely fly over my head!

Lanterne Rouge is so great. For ex I didn’t even realize the reason Wout was going so hard today was because he was thinning out the pack (vs chasing down the people off the front, which didnt make sense to me). After he pointed it out it makes total sense, but I didn’t get it at the time.

I use the official TDF app for live coverage during work. It’s actually quite comprehensive and full of detailed stats and info etc. For the actual video recordings of the event I’ll watch Lanterne Rouge and the official TDF YT channel channel for highlights, after work.

In addition to those mentioned, Phil Gaimon has given an interesting perspective this year

    • I read the Danish website feltet.dk
    • I watch almost everything on discovery+
    • I listen to a number of interesting Danish cycling podcasts - Veloropa, Forhjulslir, and occasionally some put out by Danish riders like Mads Würtz

I used to have IP-tv so I could also watch Coupe de France races and smaller Italian races on RAI, but not this year.

Shout-out to Escape Collective and all the great (and sometimes silly) reporting they do. Not as in depth as something like Lanterne Rouge, but I think they paint a more complete picture of the race and it’s surroundings.
